For example, a leuprolide acetate is a synthetic form of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist that is used to treat prostate cancer by reducing testosterone levels within the body. Likewise, tamoxifen is an estrogen antagonist that is often used to treat breast cancer by blocking the action of estrogen on cancer cells.
